TRIXY

Wood and Steel

Wood and Steel in the palm of my hands
At the tips of my fingers since I was a young man
A little glow and magic and we'll strike up the band
Wood and steel in my hands

I was just nine years my  heart taken away
By a one armed bandit with six strings to play
Said goodbye to my mama one bright summer day
Never pictured my life any other way

But those lonely nights in lonely bars
Singing sad old songs to the lonely hearts
Wasted years .......I wish I'd known
She was waiting for me at home

Wood and steel I still love the sound
And it's hard some times just to lay it down
But the sweetest thing you know I've ever found
Was a brown eyed girl waiting here in this town

No more lonely nights in lonely bars
Singing sad old songs to the lonely hearts
No more wasted years cause now I know she's
Waiting for me at home..........
She's waiting for me at home

Trixy (the one armed carnival girl)

When I was young I was the pride and joy
Of my mom and dad
They taught me every thing they could
Gave it all they had
But I was taken away by Trixy
The one armed carnival girl
And I never saw my home again
But I saw another side of this mean old world with her
Oh yah with Trixy

Well I headed east to the Smokies
Got lost in Tennessee
I got drug around by two vagabond preachers
Lost my sanity
But with the hand of God upon me
I slowly began to see
You just can't get a real picture of Jesus
Weh the preacher is a Pharisee

So take me down to the river, and wash me from all of this stain
Trixy's standin in the corner waiting, should I pick her up again

Chorus
I can't coast down hill till I die, my teeth in my mouth in the  corner eatin pie
I've got some people to see I've got some things to say
Before the pick black caddy comes to carry me away.........hitchhike
Oh yah...........hitchhike............................Trixy!

I took Trixy down to the doctor
The doctors say she's ok
She spent too much time waiting there in the corner
With no one here to play
But when I looked in the mirror, the story is plain  to see
I would never escape the darkness
If the Pharisee was me....

So take me down to the river, and wash me form of this stain
Trixy's still in my heart and my hand, six strings singing again
Please take me down to the river, and wash me from all of my sin
Shine your light on my darkness, Shine your light again

Chorus
Oh yah Trixy

I Like The Sound

I like the sound of six strings vibrating close to my heart each night
Sit in my chair with this old six string there
Searching my heart for the light
Just a few lines to convey how I feel
Bring a little tear to your eye
If I find the words I can make you see
All these things I've got on my mind

I like the sound of your breathing at night, while I lie awake in the dark
Reach out and touch you and hold you close in
Till I find the beat of your heart
Eye to eye an ancient dance
Plays itself out in my mind
Should I wake you up , or take a chance
It will keep until the morning light

Chorus
I like the way your eyes shine, when you hold a child in your arms
I like the way you kiss me, whenever I'm gone for too long
And I like the sound of your voice , when I call you up on the phone
And you call me your own, right there on the phone

I like the sound of these years rolling by, on a ship you and I to the sea
Carry us there with no baggage or fare
The tickets are paid and we're free
Hoping and praying for warm sunny days
While these little ones dance at our feet.
And if I awake and I can't find you there
I know where you're bound to be
Chorus

New Moon

Well there's a new moon rising in the eastern shy
But you just can't see it, with your naked eye
And like your love for me it will fade and die
And when the sun comes up it's just a wave goodbye
New moon.

Well there's a new moon rising and I think it's time
For me to see the truth when I look in your eyes
You were riding high I was stuck on the ground
I guess my time was up, you were leaving  town
New Moon

Chorus
Well that New Moon's rising in the eastern sky
You won't see her leaving till she's wavin goodbye
You can waste all your time trying to make her stay
But in the morning you'll see she's just flyin away
New Moon

There's a new moon rising in this heart of mine
And I won't be afraid, won't be wastin my time
Cause there's just no light on a new moon night
But I know the sun's coming up, I know I'll be just fine
New Moon
Chorus

I've Been Waiting

Oh I've been waiting
All my life
All my hopes and dreams are slowly
Drifting in to sight
Oh I've got this love to give
And I know it's right
And I can see the look of love in your eyes
Tonight
Chorus
I'll give you the key to me if I can play the part
And be the one you turn and run to
The one you're keeping in your heart

Oh I want to tell you
Everything I feel
How I want to show you
That my love is real
Yes I've been waiting
And now the time is right
I'll be yours forever and you'll be mine
Tonight
Chorus

I'll be yours forever and you'll be mine tonight, today and tonight etc etc.

Starting At Midnight

Well I was a boy of sixteen , when I left my daddy's farm
Marched on down to Dixie, in answer to Abe's alarm
I don't know why we're fighting
I didn't mean any harm
But in just one day I'll be walking away, or be in the angel's arms
Chorus
Starting at midnight, we'll be marching till the morning light
Pick up your muskets and hold on tight
Don't shoot until you see the whites of their eyes
Don't shoot until you see the whites of their eyes

Well I'm not afraid of dying , and I won't run away from this fight
Came all this way and I'm homeward bound
If I make it through one last fight
My courage has never faltered , my aim was always true
And I hope and I pray I'll be walking away
When this fighting day is through
Chorus
Cause starting at midnight, we'll be marching till the morning light
Pick up your muskets and hold on tight
Don't shoot until you see the whites of their eyes
Don't shoot until you see the whites of their eyes
Starting at midnight, I'll be walking till the morning light
I'll see my daddy's farm come in to sight
I'll kiss my mama and tell her good night
I'll kiss my mama and tell her good night........good night.

When I Wake Up

When I wake up in the morning, and the sky is low and red
I can see the storm is comin, and I know what it will do to my head
So I cry out to the heaven, say Father please don't send the rain
Cause I fear when it gets started , we might never see the sunshine again

Cause over and over the rain's comin down
Deeper and deeper it goes
Every thing green is now turning to brown.
And the rain's comin down

When I wake up in the morning, and the world is froze in place
Snow is blowing across the prairie and the cold makes the tears run down my face
So I cry out in my desperation, I want to feel the sun on my skin
But I know when the snow's departed
The clouds will open and the rain will come again

Cause over and over the rain's com in down
Deeper and deeper it goes
Every thing green is now turning to brown
And the rain's comin down
Here comes the rain

(help me please help me to find higher ground)

Warm Place to Stay

Darkness covers this early winter night
Snow in the air and the world is turning white
Cold souls huddle in fire lit rooms just to keep the cold away
Don't you think they'd like a warm place to stay

I get confused when I can't see the sun for a while
White on white on white is not my style
I need the greens and the blues of summer
The sun shining in my face
You know I wish I had a warm place to stay
Chorus
With lots of pretty flowers blooming there
Pretty girls with flowers in their hair
Kids are playing games out in the park
People walking round after dark...........because it's warm there
It's safe and warm there.........they've got a warm place to stay

I've always dreamed of a house beside the sea
No one there and nobody seeing me
Cause I was born in this fly over country
And I guess that's where I'll stay
You know I'm glad I've got a warm place to stay
Chorus

Bound to See Becky

Met a young beauty in seventy eight
Never lucky in love I was almost too late
She was nineteen and I twenty four
But I'd never seen a girl like Becky before

So I asked her daddy if she could be mine
He said can you be a good boy, can you toe the line?
She is the love the light of our life
It will take all your love to make Becky your wife

So I promised that I'd give my life to this girl
Put her above everything in the world
Do anything that I'd have to do
She would never have to worry
I would always be true

But how could I asked such a girl to be mine
There were better than me and they were standing in line
I didn't know what her answer would be
I could live out my life and never be free
Now she's the love and light of my life
At the end each day I thank God she's my wife
Chorus
Cause I'm bound to see Becky at the end of the day
When the cattle are fed and the barn's full of hay
I don't like this weather but I'll bear any load
Cause I'm bound to see Becky
Bound to see Becky
Bound to see Becky I know.

Nip It

Well you think you've got a problem
And you're beginning to despair
You cry out like a baby, but nobody seems to care
You go down to the doctor..........(doctor)
Complain about your life
The doctor takes you money
You could go home and get your knife and just
Nip it, nip it in the bud
Clip it, until you draw blood
You don't need a doctor you can do this on your own
Go home and get a knife and cut down to the bone
Just nip it
Well you're spending all your money
On things that don't need
Spending all your time reaching
For things that do not feed
You sign up for a credit card
Sign away your life
You won't see the light again, till you go home
And get your knife and just
Nip it , nip it in the bud
Clip it, until you draw blood
You don't need a doctor, do this on your own
Go home and get your knife and cut down to the bone
Just nip it
You put off till tomorrow the things you know you need today
You beg and steel and borrow
And where you're going , I hope you're goin all the way
Well , you think you've got a problem
It's only fair that you can see
We've got a nation full babies
Occupying my TV
You know they cry out to the President
Please give us a better life
The congress takes the money
But no one's willing to take the responsibility
And just nip it etc.

Oh yah!

No Fun For Grandpa

Well, there's just no fun for grandpa
When gramma goes away
He just sets around and mopes
Waste of another day
Dreaming of the old days and the games they use to play
But there's no games for grandpa when gramma goes away

Well it's ......just not good for grandpa
When gramma goes away
He drinks too much and cries on the phone
Gives all his stuff away
You might think he'd paint the town at least a couple shades of gray
But you'd be wrong , there ain't no paintin
When gramma goes away
When gramma goes away
